Keys to Our Heart

Let's fall in love
 with the attackers,

After all, they aren't so bad.

They might maim, they might kill

But perhaps we can help them

As we surrender the keys

To our heart.

Once inside,

They disturb the rhythm,

Palpitations:

A beat skipped now and then
Pray there are no extras.

And while the heart falters

The accounts remain,

They have the flow

We have the dough.

From the ledgers

We turn to the ballots,

The masses have their say
Go to the polls and elect

When the votes are tallied,

We will count the benefits

Given to those

Who manage our campaigns

But every bargain has its end.

We'll want the keys back then.

They'll have copies.
